Find cheap airfares online
April 29, 2008
It seems like prices just can’t stop rising. Food prices are up and gas prices are skyrocketing. A national poll taken the last week in April indicated that over half of families in the United States are considering changing their vacation destination or even calling off the whole thing because it’s just too expensive to travel. Don’t be one of those families. Cheap airfares are still available and abundant – if you know how to find them.
Cheap airfare finder tip #1: Be flexible with your schedule
If you know that you have 2 weeks off this summer, but have some control over when you take them, find your flight before you schedule your vacation. Cheap airfare websites make most of their money selling non-sale fares because most people still have to take what they can get due to time constraints. However, a vacation can be a little more flexible, and if you have to stay in paradise an extra day, so be it!
Cheap airfare finder tip #2: Be creative
If you’re dead set on spending your vacation at a given point in the summer, then consider being creative about your destination. Keep an eye – and an ear – out for specials advertised on the radio or on billboards, then head out wherever the best deal takes you.
Cheap airfare finder tip #3: Plan ahead
Airfares are always cheaper when you buy them in advance. If you start planning your vacation now, you’ll certainly be able to pick and choose from cheaper rates.
Cheap airfare finder tip #4: Think about going “closer” to home
If an average family drives an average car 1000 miles over the course of their vacation, the gas alone will cost them around $300.00, not to mention the wear and tear on the car, the cost of food and the stress of travel. Did you know that if you live in the eastern United States, you can find flights as low as $27 to popular Gulf Coast destinations? Again, it takes some looking – you’ll need to shop around online – but it can be done. Who could complain? You’re there in about an hour and you have more time at the beach!
