Travel Guard extends free assistance responding to Myrtle Beach fire
April 23, 2009
Our hearts go out to the property owners, staff-members and vacationers affected by today's distressing news of the wildfires in the Myrtle Beach area. As with any situation like this, our first question is “How can we help?”
This morning Travel Guard established an Emergency Travel Assistance hotline for all travelers impacted by the fires in Myrtle Beach (regardless of travel insurance coverage). We are here to help with travel rebooking, finding alternate flights home, providing urgent message relay service to loved ones at home, providing medical referrals, etc. Our assistance professionals are here 24/7 and will help Myrtle Beach's displaced tourists through this emergency. Travelers can access these services by calling 866-644-6811.
For those travelers who did purchase one of Travel Guard's comprehensive travel insurance plans to cover their vacation, they can reach our Claims Department at 888-409-7749 to start a claim. Our plans offer broad coverage in events such as this. For instance, our Vacation Rental Protection Plan offers trip cancellation/interruption coverage when the insured's destination becomes uninhabitable due to fire. Other coverage may include damage or loss of baggage and/or personal effects, emergency medical evacuation, medical expenses, and more.
Guests with upcoming arrival dates who purchased insurance may also be affected and they are encouraged to call us to discuss a claim as well.
Travel Guard has always been a “company led by our values” and we are pleased to be able to reach out and help during this difficult time.
