Five things to do on vacation in Orange Beach, Alabama
May 20, 2009
Orange Beach, Alabama is a lovely place to go on vacation. There are so many things to do since there are so many fantastic attractions nearby. Based on our experience of Orange Beach, we would like to give you five very memorable places to visit and take in while vacationing there. Hopefully these tips will sway you to give some of these activities a chance even if they weren’t originally on your to-do list before.
1. Head over to the beaches - We suggest partaking in at least a couple of water activities. The Gulf Coast is home to such water sports as deep sea fishing, shore fishing, sailing and even private boat charters. There are plenty of local dive shops, and you can even get a few good lessons in scuba diving and snorkeling in. You may also want to rent out a few wave runners and spend a day out on the water chasing each other or getting in awesome views of the Gulf of Mexico. If you are up for taking more exciting risks, parasailing will provide you the best views of the beaches and water that there are available in Orange Beach, Alabama.
2. Hot Air Balloon Rides - Seven days a week, and twice daily, there are hot air balloon rides provided by an FAA Certified Pilot at Orange Beach. You and your family or special someone can take a two and a half hour Hot Air Balloon ride where you can see some of the most fantastic views of the beaches, the Gulf Coast and of the island in general. You also get to be a bit involved in the ride as you will assist the pilot with inflating the balloon beforehand, or afterwards, in deflating the balloon.
3. Dolphin Encounter - Have you ever had the chance to listen to the dolphins with a hydrophone? Well, this is your opportunity because on Orange Beach, there is only one in the area. Take a tour on a dolphin cruise out in the open water. This two hour tour affords you the opportunity to see the dolphins chasing the tour boats, listen to their calls to each other and then later on in the cruise you will see other wildlife up-close and personal as you relax on a glass bottom boat.
4. Get In Touch With Nature - How about a Nautical Nature Safari? You can get onboard a pontoon boat with a real captain and experience all the underwater wildlife that Orange Beach, Alabama has to offer. The captain will drag the waterways with his nets and bring up marine life that you will actually get to touch and examine for yourself. How else will you get so up close to crabs, shrimp, and other marine life? This type of boat trip is usually less than two hours long, so it will make for a great afternoon trip.
5. Theme Parks - Adventure Island is an awesome place to spend an entire day riding the rides, playing games, enjoying the wonderful foods and just having an all around fantastic day with the kids if they are coming along on your vacation. This is great place to go after spending the majority of your vacation surrounded by the beaches and water sports. There is even an active volcano there that is the only one on the Gulf Coast and you can even feel the vibrations and see the steam!
If you are considering an Orange Beach vacation take a look at our Orange Beach Condominiums or our Reservations page to see what we have to offer. Feel free to email us if you have any questions!
