Accuweather.com predicts drop in Gulf hurricanes for 2009

Accuweather.com forecaster Joe Bastardi has issued his 2009 hurricane season outlook, with favorable news for the Alabama Gulf Coast. Bastardi, who serves as Chief Long-Range and Hurricane Forecaster for Accuweather.com, predicts that the 2009 hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico looks less active than in the past. One of the factors considered in Bastardi's prediction was the expectation of a weak El Nino pattern of weather that is expected to mature toward the mid-to-late hurricane season.
