Gulf Shores & Orange Beach tourism announced the promotion of Beth Gendler to vice-president of sales for the organization’s convention sales and sports commission departments. “Beth has lead our team’s sales efforts as the director of sales for eight successful years,” said Herb Malone, president/CEO of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism. “During her tenure, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of small conventions brought to the area. Her team has aggressively sought new opportunities while strengthening the existing ties. In addition, she had lead the development of our Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission. Since 2006, we have seen unprecedented growth in the sports travel market.”
Time Inc. announced that Sid Evans has been named Group Editor for Time Inc.'s Lifestyle Division,. In this newly created role, Evans will oversee editorial for Cooking Light, Southern Living, Coastal Living, Sunset and This Old House. "I'm thrilled by the opportunity to work on such powerful brands," said Evans. "Every one of them has a strong emotional connection with its readership, and every one has great potential for growth, innovation, and expansion. I'm also excited about moving to such a dynamic Southern city." He will relocate to the company's Birmingham offices in early September and report directly to Time Inc. Editorial Director Martha Nelson. Evans was most recently the Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Garden & Gun, a Southern Lifestyle magazine that won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2011. He also guided Garden & Gun to a 2011 James Beard Foundation Award in the Food, Culture and Travel category.
